Introduction, Week 1

My Name is Ginalyn Cecilio. I worked full time in a hospital as a Registered Nurse. I loved the work, enjoyed the interaction and seeing my patients get better. Two years ago, I realized I want to move forward on my career from bedside nursing to leadership. In order for me to accomplish this career goal, I would have to have a Bachelor Science Degree in Nursing. Last year, I had the opportunity to enrolled in a RN-BSN program and taking this class will accomplish and fulfill the requirement for me to graduate in Bachelor Science Degree in Nursing.

What do I consider to be my biggest accomplishment? I considered greatest achievement in life is having my two beautiful grown children and my loving husband of 26 years. They are my “rock” and support system. I do not think I can go through nursing school without their loving support. I remembered the sacrificed they gave, in order for me to finished nursing school. Many of you can relate that having two small children, working full time and going to school all at the same time was not a walk-in a park. They gave me all the help to go through with it and with great pride.

My husband and I enjoyed traveling, going out for dinner and love to watch movies. We just saw “Den of Thieves”, “Jumanji” and last month “Star Wars”. We tried to make time for each other, since we are family that has busy lives. We make sure we have “date night” and “dinner date” with the four of us to catch up with everyone’s school and work. We do not let a day go by without calling and saying “hi” to each other.

I forgot to mentioned I also have two adorable dogs named Hanna and Dexter. We had them since 2011 Hanna is a Pit bull terrier and she is about 6 years and Dexter is Chocolate Pit bull and he is about 5 years old. Hanna likes to play with her ball and Dexter likes to cuddle and play on the grass all day long. They are friendly, loyal, very smart and highly protective.

Lastly, families and friends describe me as funny, loud, sociable, caring and determined. I look forward to know all of you and have some fun about our California Literature.

  2. Hey Ginalyn,

I used to work as an EMT, so I completely understand how much you enjoy being able to see your patients get better, and knowing that you are part of the process that is making that a possibility is unlike any other feeling. I have never met a person in the medical field that did not love their job, so it good to hear how much you enjoy it.

I also really respect the fact that you are going back to school in order to progress in your field, because way too often people get comfortable with where they are at and don't choose to strive for more.

Keep up the hard work, it will definitely pay off! Good luck this semester and with the rest of your program, and keep loving what you do!

  3. Hi Ginalyn! Wow, Becoming a registered nurse is a lot of work and a lot of responsibility. I was a lifeguard once, and now I just passed a test to become a certified Pharmacy Tech. It can be pretty nerve wrecking to handle other peoples lives. I wish you luck through the rest of your bachelors as well as good luck in this class.

  4. So sorry it has taken me this long to say hello! Congratulations to you on your success so far. What an inspiration you must be to your family for continuing your education and enabling yourself to pursue your dreams. I just started my education journey while working full time and juggling the hectic schedules of two teenagers. I waited until they were a bit older, thinking it would be a little easier, but seeing how they too have to juggle around my schedule, I'm pretty sure it would be rough at any age. I think it's great you have such a fantastic support system and I wish you great success!
